In addition to the scientific research, it is important to know the actions that will be fundamental throughout the development of the PhD training. These are as follows:
KEEP YOUR CATALOG OF ACTIVITIES UP TO DATE
Annual compulsory action: Throughout your PhD you must carry out training activities that will be evaluated by the Academic Committee of the PhD Program. These activities are proposed by the International PhD School (normally common to all PhD students) or the Programs Academic Committees (specific in their research field). In addition, you can carry out all those training activities agreed with your PhD supervisor: attendance at conferences, seminars, presentations, etc.
The up to date of these activities is done through the RAPI.
KEEP YOUR RESEARCH PLAN UP-TO-DATE
Annual compulsory action: Into each academic year, you must generate a new Research Plan at RAPI a new Research Plan, either to confirm the validity of the previous one or to make modifications to it. This task activates the evaluation of your work either to confirm the validity of the previous one or to make modifications. This task activates the evaluation of your research work by your director, something essential to continue being a PhD student the next year.
MONITOR THE DEADLINE DATE OF YOUR PhD STUDIES
Annual recommended actionThis is a critical date postedsince the Thesis submission for the VIVA must be made before the deadline date. Once this date exceeded (without time extension), the student would be out of the PhD Program, without the possibility of obtaining a Doctor's Diploma and without the option of returning to this Program.
If the Thesis submission for VIVA is approaching and the student considers that he needs extra time to complete his PhD studies, the Program Academic Committee may authorize a one more year time extension and exceptionally a second year.
Submission date: October 1 of the academic year in which the deadline ends, until the deadline date.
The duration of the doctoral studies will be three years full-time, starting from the admission of the PhD to the program until the submission of the doctoral thesis.
The PhD may also be carried out part-time, after authorization from the Program Academic committee. In this case, the studies have a maximum duration of five years from admission to the program until the submission of the doctoral thesis.
The request will be made by the student via CAU presenting the application form signed by himself and his director, accompanied by the documentation proving the reasons for this request as indicated on the form.
The PhD students may request stop their training for one year, extendable up to one more year.
This application must be addressed and justified to the academic committee responsible for the programme, which will decide whether to grant the doctoral student's request.
At the University of Almeria, the schedule of administrative procedures for doctoral students indicates that the application must be submitted from May 1 to September 15, and always for the following year.
Date of submission: from 1 May to 15 September, and always for the following year.
This date can be checked on the RAPI, in case you detect that the deadline is approaching and that you are not in a position to deposit the thesis, consult the PhD student's calendar to assess the possibility of requesting a modality change or time extension always before the thesis submission deadline.
